Our Services
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a comprehensive group of treatment and diagnostic modalities dating back over 2,000 years ago. It is widely practiced in the United States and around the world, and is generally accepted as a safe and effective treatment alternative and complement to Western medical therapies. Sagrario uses TCM acupuncture style, electrical stimulation, Moxibustion, and medicinal herbs to help bring balance back into your body and life.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting very fine, single-use disposable needles into the skin and muscle tissue to stimulate acupuncture points and meridians. The needles are used in order to access the body’s Qi underneath the skin to create a balance of the body’s energies.
Electro-stimulation Acupuncture
Electro-Stimulation is applying small electrodes to needles inserted in the body to complete a circuit. E-stim can be used to heavily stimulate points on the body to create a greater effect from acupuncture.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is the application of a smoldering herb, Mugwort, to acupuncture points on the body. The warm sensation felt in the body is very relaxing and can have a dramatic effect on long-standing conditions, chronic fatigue, pain associated with weakness, and fertility.
What Does an Acupuncturist Do?
During your initial visit the acupuncturist will take your health history and an appropriate physical examination. In addition to asking questions about your medical history and symptoms, the acupuncturist may want to take your pulse at several points along the wrist and look at your tongue to observe its shape, color, and coating. He or she may also observe the color and texture of your skin, your posture, and other physical characteristics that offer clues to your health.
The acupuncturist will ask you about your symptoms and lifestyle as well as any prior medical conditions.
After the health history and examination is completed the acupuncturist will be able to effectively diagnose you and recommend a well-structured treatment plan.
Most people will feel some effect from the treatment almost instantaneously, this effect can be as simple as relaxation or an energizing feeling to a more dramatic relief of pain or other symptoms.
